Our summer 2005 outing kicked off with a bullpen picnic of all-you-can eat ribs, pulled pork sandwiches, hamburgers, hot dogs, baked beans, potato salad and cookies at Pfitzner Stadium in Woodbridge, Virginia.

We then watched the Potomac Nationals play the Winston-Salem Warthogs from our reserved seats at first base. Everyone had a great time as we did "the wave", tried to catch foul balls and some of us even got our pitching speed clocked. The kids also had a blast eating cotton candy and funnel cake, dancing to the music, and hugging the Potomac Nationals' mascot "Uncle Slam!"

We cheered on Potomac, as they scored all four of their runs in the final three frames. In the fifth, Chad Chop was ejected for arguing with home plate umpire Derek Crabill. Doc Brooks doubled in Casto in the seventh for Potomac's first run. Brooks was also hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to drive in Ian Desmond in the eighth. Potomac trailed 9-3 at that point and scored one more in the ninth. The Nationals left 10 runners on base and six of them were in scoring position. Although Potomac lost 9-4, we still had fun and enjoyed a spectacular fireworks show after the game!
