SAILING ON THE CHESAPEAKE BAY

The Chesapeake Bay is a popular venue for WNA. On one occasion, the combined staffs of WNA and FMDS, as well as everyone's significant other, met in Old Town Annapolis for an afternoon cruise on the Bay on a 60-foot schooner. We had a light breeze, enough to keep us sailing, but not enough to make the hardcore landlubbers seasick. Even though it was overcast and cool, the rain held off and we had a great sail. Many of us took turns hoisting the sails and piloting the schooner. The food was delicious and plentiful and everyone took advantage of the opportunity to relax and unwind. After the cruise, we met at a local pub for dinner and drinks and to enjoy the Annapolis nightlife. Many of us stayed the night and took a leisurely ride home the following day.

On our second outing, staff and guests set sail on the Woodwind, a beautiful 74-foot yacht for a four-hour cruise on the Chesapeake Bay. This event took place only one week after Hurricane Isabel hit, so we were especially happy to have such a beautiful day. After a catered lunch on board and a day of "sun & fun," the group headed to Maria's Ristorante, a picturesque restaurant at the city dock in historic downtown Annapolis for authentic Sicilian cuisine and Italian wine.
