Robert O. Williams, P.E. and Kenneth V. Notaro, P.E., identified the need for creative, top quality engineering services in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area and founded Williams Notaro in 1996. Originally, located in Arlington, Virginia, Williams Notaro initially employed a staff of 4 and leased office space from an architectural firm then known as "Intraplan," now Fanelli McClain. The combined services of both independent, but co-located, companies offered a complimentary blend of architectural and engineering services through a strategic alliance between the firms.
Williams Notaro immediately began work on challenging projects such as a 44,000 square foot fast-track renovation project for NASD and a 50,000 square foot renovation for the Washington Post. In addition, Williams Notaro supported Fanelli McClain on many of their more difficult and technically demanding projects and also served as technical experts in a forensic analysis of a project in Sri Lanka.
