FALL 2009 INSTALLATION BLOOPER CONTEST

The possible responses are listed below, with the correct response in bold.

Sealing the equipment within the wall ensures that, in the event a leak occurs, the water will be evenly and fairly distributed to tenants on both sides of the wall doubling the chance that the leak will be quickly discovered.

Enclosing the piping and electrical connections guarantees a more consistent hot water temperature due to the elimination of tampering by insuring that the control panel is inaccessibly secured within the wall.

Mechanical and plumbing equipment should be installed in a manner that provides adequate service clearance and access to critical components such as electrical connections, piping connections, and nameplate information. In addition, such equipment should be supported from the building structure so as not to affect the functionality of architectural features within the space.

Installing the water heater and drain pan within the wall provides an antique rustic look: a highly prized aesthetic feature in a modern office space.
