DESIGN SERVICES

Williams Notaro & Associates, Inc. (WNA) offers complete design services spanning the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering disciplines. WNA prides itself on maintaining a high level of Principal involvement throughout the design phase of our projects. We tailor our design services specifically to the needs of each client and each project. WNA is sensitive to the role of economics in engineering design. We understand the financial basis for project decisions and, through creative applications of available technologies, provide solutions that meet the client's technical and financial requirements.

WNA's experienced staff provides the following design services:

Building Envelop Improvement/Contamination Control Systems:
Today, more than ever, security and safety in the work place is a high priority for business's, building owners, and facility managers. WNA's expertise in building envelope improvements and specialized HVAC system designs can dramatically improve the integrity of your facility. We can provide the engineering to assist you in design the of the modifications to the building envelope, the HVAC system, and the building security protocol to control the indoor environment in the event of an external or internal contamination event or other extraordinary conditions. Combined with our extensive experience with systems in existing facilities we thoroughly analyze each system in the facility, as well and the business requirements for the facility, to determine the type of modifications needed to meet the desired level of security in each unique application.

Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Systems:
Whether you are building a new facility or replacing an obsolete HVAC system in your existing facility, WNA can provide the HVAC system engineering design support to select the right system. We analyze each application thoroughly to make sure that the proposed system meets your performance needs. Our experienced staff has extensive design experience in all types of HVAC systems and how to successfully implement the application of each of these systems. Our detailed contract documents provide clear and concise direction to the installing contractors so the system is installed in accordance with our stringent requirements and guidelines.

Electrical Systems:
From the incoming service all the way to your receptacles, WNA has the expertise to design the right electrical system for your facility. Based on a thorough review of the projected demands placed on your buildings electrical systems by today's office space users, and the desired level of control or protection from harmonic currents, transients and electrical noise, we can develop and design the right system to meet your facilities requirements. WNA coordinates with the local utility to provide the appropriate incoming service capacity. We also review your emergency and back up power needs and provide design services to integrate an emergency power system and back up power system, as needed, into the base building distribution system. We can help you design a facility that can provide the power distribution, capacity, and power quality that today's tenants expect.

Fire Alarm & Life Safety Systems:
With a thorough knowledge of today's fire and life safety codes, NFPA, and the ADA, WNA provides design services detailing the fire alarm & life safety systems for your new building. We also provide design services to support the installation of fire alarm & life safety systems in older facilities that were never equipped with these systems. WNA has established relationships with fire alarm & life safety system vendors and contractors to provide your building with a system that meets your life safety system needs, meets or exceeds the local code requirements, and is friendly to your project budget.

Plumbing and Piping Systems:
WNA offers our clients expertise in sanitary, storm drainage, and domestic hot and cold water distribution systems. With experience ranging from restaurant design to health clubs, we can design the system that will meet your facilities needs. Our staff's in-depth knowledge of the applicable code requirements as well as our experience in coordinating with the local utilities and civil site engineers make the coordination and connection of the water, storm, and sanitary systems to the site utilities seamless.

Fire Protection Systems:
Pre-action, dry-pipe, and wet-pipe systems are a part of many of our projects. We coordinate the fire protection specific requirements of each facility or each area within a facility to make sure that they are served by the appropriate system. By coordinating directly with the client, WNA identifies areas of the facility with special needs such as a computer room, data center, or sensitive file storage area and assists the client in the selection of the fire protection system. We review the advantages and disadvantages of each system with the client to determine the best cost-to-benefit-ratio for each application.

Secure Facilities (SCIF):
Security is more important today than ever before. Many companies need Secure, Compartmentalized, Information, Facilities, or SCIF's to meet government security requirements or to provide a high level of security for internal sensitive information. Whatever the goals, WNA can design the SCIF that will meet the most stringent security requirements. With considerable experience in high security facilities, we carefully evaluate the existing building systems in a proposed SCIF area and work with the end-user to determine methods of treating each system component that passes through the SCIF perimeter. In some very sensitive applications, we have redesigned the base building infrastructure to minimize or eliminate SCIF perimeter penetrations. By providing exceptional attention to the security details and carefully evaluating the existing site conditions, our SCIF projects run smoothly and can be constructed without costly surprises.

Engineering System Documentation:
When accurate records of the MEP systems are required and as-built drawings do not exist, WNA performs field verification of MEP system configurations to note the as-built conditions in a facility. Our engineering staff is experienced in the installation of the systems we design and are adept at translating what they see at a project site into accurate, detailed, documents. Our experienced CAD personnel work directly with the engineering staff to translate their field notes into CAD for record and future use. Once complete, these files can be provided on CD, magnetic tape, or PDF files depending on the clients needs.

CAD Documentation:
All engineering drawings are produced using Autocad and can be translated to any format required by the client. WNA's CAD department is experienced at inputting older, paper copies of contract documents into electronic format to update your document records to a modern format or just to reduce the space required to store all of your old record documents.
